This rifle was completed in 1981 and has several unusual features. The brass
barrel was made from a piece of high strength brass rod manufactured for use as
a propeller shaft. Don Getz drilled it to .50 caliber and machined it octagon. I
took it to the Colonial Williamsburg Gunshop and hand reamed it to .525 caliber
which gave the interior a slight taper. I then hand rifled it with seven groves
and one turn in 56 inches on the shop rifling bench.
The lock and set triggers were assembled from casting I got from John Bivins.
The brass mounts were handmade. The wood is quarter sawn sugar maple stained
with pigmented bees wax.
