As best I can remember this rifle was built about 1972. It had a .60
caliber Robert Paris made barrel and the plug fit so loosely that I had
to re-breech it. Although it was rifled one turn in 48 inches, which
many say is to quick a twist for that large a caliber, it shot great!
The lock is a large Siler. All the mounts were made at the shop. The box
was cast using a wooden pattern originally carved by Wallace Gusler. The
hinge was cast as one piece with the finial and the pin hole drilled by
hand. The box lid sits on top of the surround. The design is related to
the work of John Davidson (Rockbridge, Co. VA) and his unnamed master.
